Over the past 20 years, Falmouth has been treated to a flotilla of stunningly beautiful yachts, sailing out of Pendennis stable like highly trained race horses facing the Grand National.

Established in 1988, the shipyard has achieved two decades of enormous activity, handling over 100 projects, growing the workforce to a base of 280 and building a reputation as a world leader in refit, restoration and new build. This achievement is being celebrated with an anniversary exhibition from 1 April

The exhibition runs from 1 April to 27 June.

10th - 13th September
From 10th - 13th September 2008 Falmouth will be the host port for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta. This special Tall Ships Race is the centre-piece marking the 500th anniversary of the founding of the port of Funchal in Madeira.

Falmouth has been selected as the start port for the race. Up to 10 large or square rigged vessels are expected in the Docks, plus a further 20 smaller ones. The ships will be open to the public from Wednesday 10th September to Friday 12th September. The start of the race takes place on Saturday 13th September 2008. A Parade of Sail, starting around noon, will lead the ships from the Docks and Carrick Roads out to Falmouth Bay for the start of the Regatta at the end of the afternoon.

Come and join us for onboard visits of the ships, day sails, street markets, concerts & theatre and fireworks. Watch the Parade of Sail and the Race Start on Saturday. You may even wish to take part in this exciting sailing race to Portugal!

This years Carnival will boast all the fun, excitement and vibrancy of last years event with one magnificent day of music, entertainment and partying.

There will be music on Lemon Quay with lots of local bands whopping it up from mid afternoon on into the night creating a buzzing atmosphere sure to lift everyone’s spirits and get them in the party mood. There will also be children’s entertainment and of course the glitzy Grand Parade through the City Streets departing Hendra Park at 18.00hrs and finishing with a flourish on Lemon Quay with the traditional firework display thrilling the crowds.

The Oyster plays such a unique role in Falmouth’s local economy and heritage that a festival dedicated to the oyster is celebrating its 12-year anniversary this October.

The festival is timed to coincide with the start of the oyster-harvesting season. Visitors can enjoy oyster tasting, cookery demonstrations, live music, an oyster ball, local produce and craft fairs and an exciting working boat race. The size of the festival has been significantly increased with support from Cornwall Taste of West, expanding the festival into a real celebration of Cornish fare.
